In class today (Tuesday, March 3, 2015) in class we watched and explored the website of the E-Nable community.
Last Saturday, our STELM class went on a trip to the UMD Engineering Day. We drove all the way to Duluth, Minnesota to go to this event, and let me tell you, it was worth it. This was a great opportunity that I am glad we took advantage of. Throughout the long day there, we toured the campus and got several hand-on experiences. We got to tour each lab that they use and see some of their current experiments. One of my favorite parts was when we made ice cream with liquid nitrogen. The class members used several gallons it seemed like of milk and heavy whipping cream. Then they poured in the liquid nitrogen, it was awesome. It was instantly boiling upon contact, causing a thick layer of steam like substance pouring out over the bowls and table. It was a cold steam which was a little weird, but no one cared what the process was, because it tasted awesome! This trip ended with a panel that was held by upperclassmen and ended up answering a lot of questions i had about engineering and their school. Looking back on it, I think that i would seriously consider UMD as a possible college option once I get to that point.
