POTD

A tasty cupcake with a tasty frosting makes for the greatest taste of them all. Taste, such a wonderful thing - what would we do without taste? In life we need flavor, or everything would be bland, and bland is bad. A tasty apple pie? Unheard of - there is no taste! We would never be able to enjoy a nice brisk drink of coca-cola, it would taste like nothing-ness! Now thats just insane!

A floating jellyfish, motionless in the empty space that isn’t empty at all. Filled with many forever-burning stars and planets filled with life. A place that is never still, always moving whether it may be an endless orbit or an asteroid wandering aimlessly. Our view is biased, as the human eye cannot perceive what beauty lies beyond our reach. So don’t be fooled by how plain it looks in our night sky, because just a bit farther, is the most amazing sight, that you may never see.
9/11/14
A very radiant light can be seen from a rough pasture filled with nothing but rock. This beautiful light is in the midst of the speckled area of space. Streaks of blue and streaks of orange are filling the view.
9/12/14
Looking into the sky, seeing a giant fist ready to strike may be intimidating at first glance, but if you look into this intimidating thing you will see that it is soft on the inside. It is a beautiful picture painted into space, scaring all who dares to deny it.
Astonishing to think that such an innocent picture molded into the night sky can look to be as scary as a fist.
9/15/14
A cliff, such a different sight It can be beautiful, but if you lie where you are vulnerable - It can be a life threatening scenario. You can climb and climb until you’re tired, or you could fall and fall until it seems like you’re falling from space. Beautiful, but scary - it seems like something you could never come up with.
9/16/14
A lake made of fireflies, a sky filled with that such creature. The fact that they are ugly up-close does not take away the beauty that they can add to the night. If you are diurnal you shall miss this beautiful sight, for some of the world’s greatest sights, can only be sighted at night.

The night sky is like a butterfly. During the cocoon stage, it can be ugly, or when the sky is filled with pollution. But when that cocoon allows the butterfly to spread its wings, it is as beautiful as a nebular in the sky.
9/22/14 Mon.
Equinox. The end of summer and beginning of a new time. On this time, day and night are equal. Equality is truly among us as two completely different times are one hundred percent equal.
9/23/14
The first thing you will see is a graveyard of nothing but icebergs, such a plain place. Look all around and you can only see ice and water. This is not true, look up and you’ll see - the beautiful sight of a volcanic light pillar. Green, orange, and other pretty colors streak across the sky in a mesh of awesome.
9/24/14
The lagoon. The first thing most think is a scary place that we think of as the black lagoon. When we look into the lagoon nebula you will see that they are oh-so wrong. A bash of colors including red blue and yellow line an oval shape in the space that is lit up by several brightly shining stars.
9/25/14
A bash of a vast amount of contrasting colors fill this fast acting plaster of space sky.
9/26/14 Fri.
Many components work together to form one beautiful thing. This happens all around us, for example the composite photograph of the planet Mars. A plain picture of mars can be seen as a barren red planet that we do not see as a beautiful thing, but using photography and technology we can extract the different looks of mars when it is exposed to elements like hydrogen, oxygen, and even reflected sunlight. Together they create one big picture of Mars with several different contrasting colors that presents Mars in a better, more beautiful picture of the planet we call Mars.
9/29/14
Sometimes being plain isn’t a bad thing. Yes when you think of plain you think of just a flat boring picture in your mind, but these ‘plain’ things that you are judging can be beautiful in their own way. Take a look at the surface of mars, you see the flat constant color all the way around, but if you take a closer look you will find these unusual rock patterns that no one else has seen.
9/30/14
A rainbow, such a beautiful sight. A spectrum of blue, green, orange, and red. If only you could see this beautiful sight in full, a full circle all across the sky. You can! You could fly in an airplane and you will see a full circle rainbow fill the sky. Maybe even a double circle rainbow! If this does happen, the second rainbow will be inverted.
10/1/14
A giant butterfly streaks across the space sky, filled with a bash of colors including blue, red, orange, pink, and many other colors inside the rainbow. This is the butterfly nebula, but something terrible is happening in this beautiful picture. There is a dying star in the middle, this star will not be here much longer and this beautiful sight will be altered. Gas fills the area around it creating the ‘body’ of the butterfly. The wings are also formed with several types of gases creating the main beautiful aspect of this nebula.
10/2/14
A bubble in space, a bubble in the sky, not just a bubble, a nebula. A nebula that is brighter than the stars, bluer than the sky. It is bursting, in front of our eyes. This burst illuminates the area around it, red as a fresh apple. Different stars and gases fill this red area, contrasting and complementing the beautiful bubble that we see.
10/3/14
The Milky Way, such a tasty sight. Such a beautiful candy. Inside the chocolate covering you will find our part of the vast galaxy. In the middle of this space sight is silky caramel. Inside this candy is millions of stars and planets.
10/6/14
Our perception of the beautiful thing we call space is partially blinded. We are not as lucky as those who can call themselves astronauts. Imagine getting to float around in this amazing place that we look up at and see several different arrangements of stars and planets and even nebulas. It would be a lot more enjoyable than sitting on earth looking through the narrow view of a telescope. Floating around there would be no restrictions to our view, we would look all around and see forever burning stars and beautiful gases being emitted into the space sky forming beautiful nebulas. Compare this to our everyday life sitting inside looking through glass only seeing small white specs spread across the sky.
10/7/14
From the temple of the sun to the temple of the moon. A long journey for a rainbow to cross. A rainbow in the night sky is only enhanced by the beauty of the stars. A green mist underlies the bright shining line across the sky that appears to look like a rainbow. Certain stars shine bright and connect this rainbow to themselves, making themselves seem brighter and better than they really are.
10/8/14
A monster of a blob forming in the middle of space, it appears that it is reaching out to the stars. All forming around a big cluster of stars all being attacked by a brown cloud that appears to be made out of dust. Soon it will continue far enough to reach out and engulf the rest of the stars
10/9/14
A vampire’s delight is what we call the blood moon. The moon we see every night covered in the color that the vampires we know of drink for a constant diet. Shining bright through the sky to show us the bright red circular picture hanging high in the sky. Werewolves howl and vampires drink when this spectacular sight can be seen in the night of the lunar eclipse.
Many people woke up early wednesday to look at the moon. Why would they do this you ask? Because they wanted to see the spectacular sight that is the blood moon. This marks the lunar eclipse. The moon is covered with red and shines bright as ever illuminating the surrounding sky with a deep red color.
10/10/14
Many people who play football get pumped at some point, and everybody does it their own way. This person however, I think went a bit over the edge. Owen Schmitt entered onto the field of a seahawks game and just wanted to get pumped. We can all agree that he lost control, rather than just getting pumped. He ran in smashing his head with his football helmet! What the heck was he thinking? When he was done he ended up being covered in blood and having to get stitches. I think it is safe to say that this football player lost control.
10/13/14
An ambient black background, with constant flashes of bright white streaking across the blank region. This is sprite lightning! These have been recorded for over 25 years. Some thunderstorms contain these beautiful things. It’s lightning that is changed from plasma irregularities.
10/14/14
You’re inside a pyramid of colors including green, blue, and even purple. This vast ‘pyramid’ that you are trapped inside of is the auroral corona over Norway. It is an aurora that bashes these beautiful colors into a shape that fills the surrounding sky. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be mad if i was trapped inside this prison. Look up and see a beautiful sight
10/15/14
Overlooking a bustling city is the plain old night sky. Not a single star can be seen, it is a star-free night. Such a boring region filling the sky, not a single stir or motion. But wait, there is something! Its an eclipse at moonrise. It looks like a shooting star going at a constant rate up into the sky, streaking through the boring-ness of the starless sky.
10/16/14
A double lobed comet is a rare occasion. If you were lucky enough to see Rosetta’s Selfie, you would get to see this rare sight. This satellite snapped a quick selfie that had a double lobed comet photobombing it, making faces in the background.
10/17/14
The night sky is a beautiful thing. Most of our perspective is polluted by the machines and corporations that fill the air with pollutants. When our view is clear, it is a whole new thing. You can see clearly the beautiful sights like nebulas and comets. You can also see clusters of beautiful stars like the messier 6.
10/18/14
A solar storm can happen at anytime on the sun. It can be bigger than the planet jupiter, just a big circle of what looks like lightning striking around in a circle. It is an amazing sight that we can not see with our naked eye. Careful as you will be blinded if you attempt to see this thing, so don’t be silly and wait for NASA to reveal a safe image of it!
10/19/14
When most people think of the world, they think of just us. The earth. Well we could not be more close-minded. There are millions here in the endless possibilities of space. For example, look at just the several galaxies that are found in pegasus. Each of those blobs that we call galaxies contain tons of little earths that may or may not have life on them. We will never know, until we find out a way to get out there ourselves.
10/20/14
A bunch of falling flowers, falling, falling, forever it seems. It is an endless decent to them, their petals waving in the wind. Such a beautiful fall, as scary as it might be, but a magnificent sight it is, as the magnificent flowers daintily fall into their demise.
12/1/14
Today is the beginning of December, and soon to be the start of Winter. For us here however, it is already far into our Winter season. Snow covers the ground, and the cold is all around. All the people shuffle along outside as quick as they can, all bundled up in their warmest clothes. Luckily, most got to warm up the best way by stuffing their faces and spending time with their families on Thanksgiving.
12/2/14
Today’s POTD is a perfect example of what happens to my mind when I walk into our STELM class. Exactly, my mind is blown in most cases. A giant explosion that lasts and will last a few years, sending mind shrapnel all over the place. The end result is completely different than the original thing, which in this case, is my mind.
12/3/14
Clouds of dust, filled with a vast amount of stars, cover the space sky. A neutron star is hidden inside one of the jellyfish in this jellyfish nebula.
12/4/14
The crater plato can be found clearly on the surface of the moon. It is one of the biggest craters that can be found on the moon. Surrounding and complementing this crater are the Lunar Alps. Some people can find these things to be vastly interesting and mind boggling, while some find them boring and pointless. One of these people, for example, is me. I find this crater to be completely pointless, and not very interesting.
12/8/14
Wanderers in space, doing what they were named for, wandering from planet to planet. These unknown people explore the unexplored, go where we want but cannot achieve. Discover what has never even been fathomed, and explain it in ways we have never even thought to think about.
12/9/14
In deep space if you look closely, you can see a magical tree placed on top of a hill. To the right is one planet’s moon that they find precious to themselves. Behind the tree seems to be a setting sun. All around can be seen clusters of stars and colors, enhancing the picture of this tree.
12/10/14
A giant cluster of a different array of stars fill the sky. Some people may look and just see stars, but to some people, you will see the real beauty of these stars. Some will see the different colored stars, like the bright blues or the deep yellows, and in the middle the tightest part of the cluster, showing a color of white. Others will look at these stars and think, hey, those stars could be another planet’s sun! Or maybe those stars are just boring old flaming balls in the middle of space. It all depends on the person and their thoughts. Others may not even think of these different specific things, and just admire the brightness and beauty of them, just simply looking and admiring.
12/11/14
Sun shining through the clouds, revealing a bright shine, a perfect opportunity for one thing. A beautiful chance to get a natural lens flare. Probably the best place to take a picture, mountains as shadows in the background, a lens flare being shown, and down below an array of vegetation. Just adding onto this lens flare is several other glares shooting through the sky. Lines of clouds fill the space inbetween the glares, showing more normal traits of the sky.
12/12/14
Some people may believe that a sign of water on Mars could be a symbol of life. A.K.A aliens, which most don’t believe in. Me personally, I believe a comet with a good chunk either collided or was near to mars at some point. Knowing that ice melts easily, and that Mars is extremely hot, I think the comet melted and was on the planet for certain amount of time. Granted, it probably wouldn’t of left such sign, but it could’ve been a huge comet. A believer, for example, would be Carter. He thinks that aliens once lived on this planet and came to earth, and touched the coin that revealed that Mars once had water on it’s surface. That is a bit crazy, but it could of happened, we may never no.
12/15/14
The world all has different sections blocked off from each other, each section having a different amount of gravitational acceleration. Not many people knew about this until late, as pictures have been revealed of a map of the earth all based off of how much gravitational acceleration there is. At first look it may seem like it is showing how hot or cold each area is, but really it is showing the different levels of gravitational pull. The areas with the most are a highly concentrated color of red and looks like a giant mountain in the earth. There is an area near india in the ocean that is very blue, showing that that area shows that it has a smaller gravitational concentration.
12/16/14
Look over top of the ridge of the himalayas, surrounding the sky, looking like a foamy lake. Above the distant rock-like mountains can be seen something that looks like a giant laser cannon. This cannon is shooting its laser at the sky, towards some extra-terrestial circles. These things could be only one logical thing, aliens. On earth would be out own, alien hunters. As soon as they spotted these things they took aim from their base up on the himalayas. Not long after the picture was taken, the aliens were taken out of the sky and fell to their death and landed somewhere on earth. We are still looking to this date trying to find the fallen ship.
12/17/14
The center of a mass amount of vast space sky is a spiral galaxy. It looks almost like a giant vortex in the middle of a field of several different galaxies. Inside this spiral galaxy could be a unlimited amount of possibilites. Inside could be another earth, with it’s own solar system, on it could be a different race or maybe even a huge number of communities. For all we know, dogs could be in the place of us, and their pets could be little childre

Blue dots scatter across a canvas of red, a stringy non-consistent red. Deeper inside can be seen smaller dots that look like a white color. On the bottom of the canvas is a sort of yellow color. This canvas is in the shape of a cone, and some can even say it looks like a fish face. It is also an upside down christmas tree, or upside down triangle. This amazing picture is found in space. This is the cone nebula, surrounded by emptiness and other vast amount of stars.
1/6/15
This region of space looks like it revolves all around its seemingly core. This core is a giant yellow ball. All around is stars and a blue ring. The thing that we are looking at is part of a galaxy. Our eyes are seeing a giant picture showing off one hundred stars. But really though, it is a bunch of pictures taken by hubble telescope. This is because that it is not humanly possible to take a picture that big. Huh, what a weird thing, it kinds of messes with your brain.
1/8/15
Inside the depths of the never ending space filled with blackness, can be seen a cluster of a few items. Towards the bottom of the picture that we see is a cluster of stars and in the middle is a cluster of two different items. One is almost a cloud like structure that is a vast amount of colors. The most dominant colors would be brown and gray, and this thing is shaped like something of an airplane. Above is the biggest and most notable thing. This would be a giant blue ball of dust and gas particles. Inside the middle of that ball looks to be a bright couple of stars. This blue cloud is connected by a blue sort of tunnel to another blue cloud, both being just as beautiful as the other.
1/9/15
A spiral fills the emptiness of what is mainly known as space. Most people will look and believe it may be a combination of stars, or dust, something as simple as that. These people are very wrong, for this spiral we see is a completely separate galaxy. Inside is another huge set of space completely filled with billions of more stars and an unbelieveable amount of planets. This information makes us think that some people can be very close-minded in comparison of people like astronomers or professional thinkers.
1/13/15
Many people ask me one very simple question, What’s 9 + 10? Well I give them my honest answer, which I believe to be correct, but apparently it isn’t! I tell them 19, and they laugh at me. They say I am stupid, and walk away. For the answer they are seeking, that they seem to be correct, is 21. I do not know, why these would want to feed this information into others’ heads for this will cause you to receive a very bad grade, in any mathematics class you take.
1/14/15
Many stars fill the night sky, ranging from big to small, bright to dim, but all just as beautiful as the next. Each one has a story, a story in which many do not know. Sometimes, these stories collide, forming a constellation, where many stars spell out an amazing picture. For example, a pot or a pan ; pretty simple. Or maybe a bit more complicated, Orion, a man wielding a bow. Or even better, a horse. All of these things are very vast and different, but as stated before, are all just as beautiful as the next.
1/16/15
Many people seem to think that writing a paragraph every day, being only inspired by a stupid picture of the day can be boring. Well these people are completely, and utterly, RIGHT! When the picture of the day is a picture of a ball that looks to be made out of tinfoil, supposedly landed in some place no one knows about, People won’t feel very inspired.
1/19/15
Today’s picture of the day looks like someone did something very creative. It looks as if someone combined several different colors of paint, some more than others, and put them inside some sort of a paintball grenade. Then chucked it at a canvas, and it exploded in the center, leaving behind a beautiful mess. An array of colors, all spanning out from the center. These colors include red, tan, blue, black, and many more not as easy to spot.
1/20/15
The picture of the day on the 20th of january, which is a tuesday, looks like it was taken by a toaster. It is such bad quality that i think i could count out each individual pixel. The picture that was taken by this toaster looks to be the moon, but it is really some sort of a dwarf planet.
1/21/15
A giant green ball resides in its home that we call space. In the center a small light resides inside of this giant green ball. This thing that we see overlooks the rest of the scenery. The center star in the middle shines a bright light over the scenery that the bigger circle overlooks. It is it’s flashlight in the dark, it’s nightlight when its sleeping, and it’s headlights in the middle of a storm. This whole picture looks as if the green is a UFO ship that is sending its beam down to pick up helpless little humans that they are going to dissect and probe, or whatever other weird alien things they do.
1/22/15
A meteor comes striking down in the middle of the night, crashing down onto a small unsuspecting village. Screams fly out from inside, people in shock not noing what else to do. Whoever wasn’t killed in this freak accident was running around in circles like chicken with their heads cut off. Little did they know that it wasn’t just a random meteor coming down upon them from the night sky. This was a giant rock, cracking instantly when it landed on our earth’s land. Inside revealed a section of pods. Quickly they opened and these alien like creatures climbed out slowly. They wielded huge sorts of alien weapons. What humans still remained in what was left of the village were quickly shot by burning lasers shot from the aliens’ weapons. These were the invaders, pillaging the poor little village. Luckily, this village was placed outside a nearby military base. After they heard of this ocurrance, several waves of military units came out, blasting their guns at the aliens. Their weapons weren’t sufficient, as the aliens were so advanced. Before you could finish saying supercalifragilisticexpalidocius, all of the small army were dead. The few amount of aliens marched themselves in the military base, and found the command center. After destroying most of the resistence there, they pressed a big red button. As soon as it was pressed, a ray of nukes were launched onto the world, 7 nukes for all 7 of the continents. Not knowing this, then aliens stood around being idiots. Not long after the button was pressed, all of earth was exploded in a giant boom, and the earth was no more.

To give an unfortunate kid who was born with no fingers the opportunity to play a game like baseball, you create a historical moment, and this is what I believe Robohand has done. With all you need is some cables and a 3D printer to create a hand and continuously resize it as you grow is a huge milestone for our life. 3D printing is a monumental moment because you can’t even imagine how many different things were going to be able to make now. Going back to the resizing, the Robohand design saves people a ton of money throughout a kids life. You can get this when your kid is still very small and not have to buy a new hand every time he grows out of the old one. All you need to do is print another one.

Todays VOTD inspires me once again to create a beautiful business idea. This idea would to be create a custom build of a pencil or pen. You could send it to the entrepreneur who owns a 3D printer, with a set of instructions. You could tell him to inscribe things into it, like a special word or phrase maybe even a design. There would also be a feature where you could change the colors, like if you made a design it could be multi colored since it is made in layers. The final product would be very unique and only the buyer would have one, so it would be

An ambient black background, with constant flashes of bright white streaking across the blank region. This is sprite lightning! These have been recorded for over 25 years. Some thunderstorms contain these beautiful things. It’s lightning that is changed from plasma irregularities.

A double lobed comet is a rare occasion. If you were lucky enough to see Rosetta’s Selfie, you would get to see this rare sight. This satellite snapped a quick selfie that had a double lobed comet photobombing it, making faces in the background.

A bunch of falling flowers, falling, falling, forever it seems. It is an endless decent to them, their petals waving in the wind. Such a beautiful fall, as scary as it might be, but a magnificent sight it is, as the magnificent flowers daintily fall into their demise.

Clouds of dust, filled with a vast amount of stars, cover the space sky. A neutron star is hidden inside one of the jellyfish in this jellyfish nebula.

Wanderers in space, doing what they were named for, wandering from planet to planet. These unknown people explore the unexplored, go where we want but cannot achieve. Discover what has never even been fathomed, and explain it in ways we have never even thought to think about.

In deep space if you look closely, you can see a magical tree placed on top of a hill. To the right is one planet’s moon that they find precious to themselves. Behind the tree seems to be a setting sun. All around can be seen clusters of stars and colors, enhancing the picture of this tree.

The picture of the day on the 20th of january, which is a tuesday, looks like it was taken by a toaster. It is such bad quality that i think i could count out each individual pixel. The picture that was taken by this toaster looks to be the moon, but it is really some sort of a dwarf planet.
